Busy, busy getting ready for ..........

Ok so our group plans are coming together for the upcoming season. The children have come up with lots of ideas for what they would like in our nursery and have been working very hard to create them.

There has been lots excitement and teamwork between all of the children we can't wait to share the finished products with you all.

Remember our Nativity performance on Wednesday 16th December at 2pm. All welcome

No such thing as bad weather for us

Playing in puddles is not only a lot of fun, it is a great sensory and  physical learning experience for children.

Today we couldn't resist with all the rain we have had and a playground with lots of different sized puddles. We explored how it feels to be soggy from for the water, the size and depth of the puddles, we listened to the splashing and squelching sounds and the water made and inevitably our feet in our boots.

Playing in puddles is a great workout we jumped and hopped looking at the circles we made, we shuffled our feet through talking why it was hard work and we had to run. The most fun of all had to from kicking the puddles and soaking Mrs Ronson!

After all our fun in the rain and puddles it was time for changing all our clothes a nice warm drink and perhaps best of all for our parents all that activity everyone had a good nights sleep.

Remembrance Day

This week we have been thinking of all the soldiers who serve their countries and how they protect us. We thought of how brave they were and are.

Tune Frere Jacques

 "See the soldiers.
  See the soldiers.
Oh so brave!
Oh so brave!
Fighting for our freedom,
Fighting for our freedom,
You're so brave
You're so brave."

We spent time thinking about not only the soldiers but the other people and animals war can affect. We watched a lovely presentation about a rabbit which all the children were able to relate to.

To finish our remembrance we looked at the poppies coming through in the fields and talked about how we wear a poppy on Remembrance Day to remind us of all the soldiers.

We let off balloons into the sky to remember those that have gone and played with others outside like poppy seeds floating sharing our love for those still fighting for us.

 In Flanders fields
In Flanders fields the poppies blowBetween the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Bonfire and firework fun

Remember, remember the fifth of November,
Gunpowder treason and plot.
We see no reason
Why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot!

We talked in circle time about Bonfire night and why we celebrate with bonfires and fireworks.Whilst talking about it the children brought up about how dangerous fire is which led us to talk about safety around fires, matches and fire works.

We used different media to mark make firework images with lots of conversation about the noises and colours we might see and hear.

Building our own chocolate bonfires was so much fun we couldnt wait to take them home, so after our special Bonfire Night lunch with rocket lollies we ate them.
