Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

" A told B and B told C, I'll meet you at the top of the coconut tree"

Chicka chicka boom boom is there enough room?

This week we have spent time looking at one of our favourite books. We now have our own Chicka tree and have been enjoying making the sounds of the different letters. As the children hear the book more they are repeating the phrases they are familiar with. The children made their own chicka tree finding the letters in their own name

The book provided many opportunities for rhyme and rhythm

Fine Funky Fingers

In Sparklers we have a special area for developing our fine funky fingers. As well as working on gross motor movements we look at our fine motor development. These activities develop our hands, fingers and grips. Have a look at some of our favourite fine motor activities.

We enjoyed sorting last week so we have done even more sorting this week

As the farm came out this week all the children wanted to do was sort it. Some children sorted animals into families , some into sizes big and small whilst others sorted the number of animals in different sized pens depending on the numeral they had. The mathematical language they used has been great using words big, small, more than, tall and short as well as the problem solving that came in deciding they could fit more in the bigger pens than the smaller ones. We must have the most organised farm in Pilling!
