Our first solar eclipse 2015
We particularly enjoyed watching the Clangers explain what an eclipse is and what will happen. The story Whatever next played a part in our preparations although we didn't fly to the moon in our box rocket. We did however find things to make our own sparkling stars and the moon.
During our preparations we spent some time talking about protecting our eyes during the eclipse. The children who took part in nursery watching the eclipse had great fun and enjoyed telling others how safe they were and what they saw.
" There's lots and lots of stars on the cupboard"
"We watched the moon squash the sun and we had special glasses that we couldn't get off till we went in"
"The moon went in front and the sun hid"
Next week we will be looking at the Easter story and preparing things for the new summer term roleplay area.
Thankyou to those parents and people from our community who have sent in card and rolls already we still need more to make our log cabin.

Thinking about our families
This week we have spent time thinking about our families.
We have been reading about the Apple Tree Farm family and have compared Mrs Boots and her family to our own. Between us we all have nearly as many pets as on Apple Tree Farm.
Next week we are looking at our nursery group and other groups we go to. Friday morning is the eclipse we hope for good weather so we can all see it. The children will be looking at what will happen and how they can participate safely. Please ask for more information. www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies has information, resources and games throughout the week for children

Just a reminder about the fund raising event next Friday in school.
A Bunny Drive is a based on the traditional Beetle Drive, where children and adults pair up to draw a bunny in the quickest time possible on the roll of a dice. The winner is the first person to complete a bunny and raise their hand and shout “Bunny.”

World Book Day
We have spent this week thinking about our favourite books and stories ready for celebrating World Book Day.
It was decide we would have a day celebrating how we like stories read to us and as that was in bed we came to nursery in our pj's, dressing gowns and slippers. we had lots of dens filled with books and activities from our favourite stories.
We travelled to the moon like bear in What ever Next, played in a dinosaur land with Snappy The Dinosaur, had fun on the farm with The Runaway tractor and other Farmyard Tales, looked at size and sharing with The Big Red Ripe Strawberry and made patterns and colours with Elmer the Elephant.
By the end of the day it was a good job we were all dressed for bed as we were so tired.
